Pop artists are a type of artists that focus on using popular media objects and use them in art to create a discussion or spark deep thoughts regarding it. Popular pop artists include Andy Warhol, and Tom Wessleman. Of course, there are many others from around the world that focused on popular culture within their own countries.

Pop artists were popular in the 1950s, and it was a big movement that shook the art world forever. There was a lot of dispute on whether or not it was really “art”. Today many pop art pieces sell for millions because they are practically priceless. In the art world pop artists are considered the end of the modern art movement, but also the beginning of post modernism art. Almost 60 years from when it all began, pop artists still exist and take part in reviving the practice.

A large portion of what makes pop artists a “pop artist” is the irony and ability to see past what something really is. To the naked eye a can of soup is a can of soup, but an artist may be able to turn it into something that can be speculated and examined at a different level. Pop art is about inventing, being creative, and expanding upon what you already know. Comic book art is also considered pop art, and is frequently used for comic books, even today. Many pop artists also incorporate parodies, satires, and other humorous (but not obviously so) elements.

Even though the pop art craze is over, new pop artists are pursuing a revival of the art, by creating new and fresh designs. Pop art is a fabulous way to express yourself, or just to decorate your home. It has a minimalism feel, and looks chic with mostly anything.
